Resident Evil 2: The Boardgame Tops Half a Million on Kickstarter
Steamforged Games’ Kickstarter campaign for Resident Evil 2: The Board Game has just topped over half a million pounds.
The co-operative horror boardgame has exceeded its original target on the crowdfunding service three times over, and continues the trend of developers using Kickstarter to not only raise funds but also gauge the popularity of their product.
It’s hard to tell whether the UK-based company will end up being able to match the success it had while drumming up support for Dark Souls: The Boardgame last year, which ended up raising well over £3.5m through the platform.
“Resident Evil 2 helped to define its own genre of games and has created a lasting legacy in video game history,” says Mat Hart, the company’s creative director and co-founder.
“Steamforged has several Resident Evil super fans on the team and so we have a deep understanding of what makes RE such a compelling game experience; one that still has legions of fans around the world still playing the game nearly two decades after its release.”
The Kickstarter Campaign runs until the 23rd of October, 2017.
