River Horse continues cult offerings with Pacific Rim license
Pacific Rim’s madcap mech-on-monster action is set to be recreated on the tabletop by River Horse, publisher of Labyrinth: The Boardgame and Tales of Equestria.
In a round-up of deals made in in advance of next year’s Pacific Rim: Uprising film, License Global magazine reported that production company Legendary was providing River Horse with the rights to produce both boardgames and RPGs based on the franchise.
River Horse managing director Alessio Cavatore has confirmed the news, telling us that: “Yes, it is indeed true and very exciting!”
The world of Pacific Rim sees vast humanoid mechs named ‘Jaegers’ fight titanic battles against monstrous Kaiju that emerge from a rift deep within the Pacific Ocean. The first film in the franchise was a huge commercial success and quickly became a cult favourite for its bombastic fight scenes and over-the-top storytelling.
A sequel, Pacific Rim: Uprising is scheduled to come out in August 2017.
